These students have already been introduced to the strategy “Make a Picture or Mental Image.” Now Hollie has pulled them together to provide more support with the strategy. Watch as she reintroduces the strategy and explains how to use it. Then she has each student read the next paragraph and practice sketching what is in their mind. (As Carter says, his mind doesn’t have to make pictures, because his book already has them.) During this practice time, Hollie is able to coach each student on the use of this strategy.
