New Year: New Energy, New Passion, New Calm

Happy New Year! My wish for you this year is that you find the energy and passion to continue to teach our children and that amidst this energy you find personal calm to nourish your mind, body, and spirit.

Finding your personal calm requires a purposeful thought process of telling yourself you are important and that it’s necessary and okay to take care of yourself.

Here are some simple techniques to help you focus and find your personal calm:

Strive for less stress each day.

     —Learn to breathe deeply and practice deep breathing daily.

Take yourself less seriously.

     —Find some fun and laugh more.

Focus on others.

     —When we focus on others’ needs, we see our own true blessings.

Move your body more.

     —Build in a daily walk or stretch break. Moving the body nourishes the mind.

Make it your New Year’s resolution to build in these simple techniques to focus on finding and maintaining your personal calm. Every journey starts with a step forward.
