Three Ways to Engage with a Book, our first foundation lesson, is an important way to honor and engage every student immediately, whether they are younger or older, inexperienced or voracious readers.

Good-Fit Books

An important part of becoming an engaged, voracious reader is the ability to choose books that are a good fit. The I PICK criteria empower children to choose successfully, wherever they may be, without being tied to a leveled label.

Manage Materials

This is where you’ll find information about book boxes, bins, and tubs, as well as advice on delivering intentional and focused instruction so students can independently manage available reading materials.

Phase 2: Launch

Videos, lessons, and articles come together to guarantee a joyful and successful launch using the 10 Steps to Teaching and Learning Independence.
