Learn to Juggle

Whether we can do it physically or just imagine it in our minds, juggling takes valuable skills that are important to everyone’s career and daily life. Here are four reasons why:

  1. We have to concentrate, keeping our eyes open and focused on keeping multiple items or balls moving at the same time. Concentration means we are paying attention to the details.
  2. We constantly practice balancing several activities around home, family, and school. As soon as one ball gets more attention than the others, all the balls drop and we lose concentration and focus. But practicing juggling offers us the chance to get better at it.
  3. Juggling keeps us in the moment. When we are intent on keeping the balls in the air, we need to be totally in the moment, not distracted by other issues, and not taking on any additional balls. We’re in the moment and focused on each item we’re juggling.
  4. Juggling is fun! If we look at juggling as a “game,” our lives and activities become fun and not a burden.

Sometimes the balls we juggle can feel like bowling balls, unbelievably heavy and burdensome. If this is true for you, drop one of those heavy balls before you get hurt or so frustrated you can’t juggle at all. Let that large ball break into several smaller pieces. The smaller pieces are much easier to keep in the air at the same time.

We all possess juggling skills and talents, but some of us are more coordinated than others. It takes everyday practice to become proficient at juggling. Start slow with small balls and practice every day to find the balance needed to keep those balls smoothly rotating through the air.

Have fun! With practice, juggling will be a rewarding part of your life.
