Great minds discuss ideas; Average minds discuss events; Small minds discuss people.
—Eleanor Roosevelt
When you think about the above quote, how would you rate your mind? Is the bulk of your conversation centered on ideas, events, or other people?
It takes effort to raise the level of our discussions to things that really matter, but we should continually strive to rise above small-minded discussions about other people. If we find ourselves talking about others, we need to step back, recognize our behavior, redirect our energy, and focus on something else instead. Gossip or negative comments about others will never be helpful or productive.
Let's use our time and energy to focus on ideas, not other people. Let's elevate the status of our minds by getting those great ideas flowing.
