Moving to Find Balance

Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving. —Albert Einstein

Our granddaughter turned nine this week, and with her new age has come longer legs and the need for a new bicycle. What a wonderful birthday present a bicycle is! She was so excited to share every detail of this new bike. She now has hand brakes, a larger seat, and multiple gears. Her brother is confident that she will now be able to ride up the big hill to their house because of the gears. Her first attempt on this new bike was wobbly as she learned to regain her balance, but she quickly kept pedaling, and off she went.

Just like riding a bike, we must keep moving to find our balance. We all have struggles in life that slow us down, and sometimes they stop us in our tracks. The only way to overcome these obstacles is to keep going. One foot in front of the other, keep pedaling until you find your balance again.

My life is so happy with grandchildren and birthdays and new bikes. It’s a wonderful reminder for me to concentrate on what’s really important. It’s easy to get so focused on work and struggles that we stop moving forward. What a great reminder to find the balance needed to ride that bike and keep moving.
