Practice Patience

Patience is not simply the ability to wait.  It's how we behave while we're waiting.
—Joyce Meyer

Oh the joys of waiting in line. We find ourselves waiting at stop signs or in traffic. We wait at the grocery store and the airport. Much of our life is spent waiting. How do you deal with your waiting time?

I see people on their phones or checking social media, and some read or sing while waiting. It appears that those who keep themselves occupied are less likely to become frustrated and irritated by the wait.

We demonstrate a level of patience, or lack of patience, while we wait. Next time you are waiting, take a look around and see what others are doing. Are they practicing being patient? Are they verbally frustrated or calm? Is there obvious frustration or an easy acceptance of the wait time?

Now look inside at your own behavior and mental attitude. Do you have a smile or frown on your face? Are you mentally frustrated or using this time to practice your deep breathing? Are you swearing under your breath or are you singing your happy song?

Waiting is often out of our control, but our attitude and behavior while we wait is totally a personal choice. Practice being calm and positive while waiting, and your patience will grow into a calmer day.
