Shared Research: Ending the Reading Wars

Share

Like you, we are continually reading, researching, applying, and growing our practice. Of course, we take something away from each part of this process. And, sometimes we find an article or book or podcast to be one that we visit frequently because the message packs a punch and there is so much to uncover and learn. That is the case with the peer reviewed journal article written by Castles, Rastle, and Nation titled Ending the Reading Wars: Reading Acquisition From Novice to Expert

It is lengthy, but worth time time to read. In fact, we suggest reading once, and then going back to reread, taking notes of what stands out and writing down questions that form.

There is so much information being shared about reading instruction and as teachers it is our job to stay up-to-date so our students receive the best instruction possible. We truly believe in the "know better, do better" philosophy and therefore when we find something really impactful, we want to share.

We hope you find this to be as informative as we do!
