When our students are involved with classroom decisions and design responsibilities, positive outcomes and pride of ownership results.

The students in Courtney Tomfohr's class created these classroom library bin labels. She was ecstatic with how meticulous the students were in designing them, which carried over to pride and maintenance of their library.

Courtney discovered that when students made the bin labels, they became more acquainted with the books, wanting the designs to reflect the books in the bins. This led to students recommending books to each other, "Kyleigh, you might like this book about a girl and her horse since you want a horse!"

So, if you are considering a library makeover, why not let your students do the work? They are capable, will love it, and will benefit from it.
