In Zoomer, we meet an energetic pup who would rather play than go to school. Despite his family's best efforts to get him ready, Zoomer would rather play music, blow bubbles, build sand castles, and draw. Children will love the ending that proves, at least in this case, that Zoomer knew best.
Possible strategy instruction:
- C: Make a picture or mental image.
- C: Make and adjust predictions; use text to confirm.
- C: Determine and analyze author's purpose and support with text.
- A: Use the pictures. Do the words and pictures match?
- A: Flip the sound.
- F: Use punctuation to enhance phrasing and prosody.
- E: Tune in to interesting words and use new vocabulary in speaking and writing.
