I am reading a lot about close reading and am very convinced of its importance when children are reading. What is the best way to include close reading in the CAFE Menu? Where would it fall under and how would you incorporate it? I have some ideas but am interested to hear what other people would do!
Here are a couple of links to articles by Lori Sabo on this site.

I am interested in Close Reading too, and my administration is really trying to push it. I teach first grade, and I feel a little lost on how to teach close reading to readers who are sometimes still “breaking the reading code.” Any advice or experience would be appreciated!
I think using picture walks, vocabulary talks and story retell are all ways to help beginning readers get the feel for close reading.
