The emergent cafe menu is the focus of kindergarten; as I understood. I have been posting those strategies as they are taught and referring back to them. I have not tied in the main CAFE menu strategies. At what point are the strategies from the main CAFE menu to be taught?
At a CAFE conference recently, the Sisters said, “The Emergent Menu is for teachers to use to keep track students readiness. It was never meant to post in the room.” But don’t worry if you did–you still have the information and knowledge about your kiddos and it certainly didn’t hurt them . You can start putting using the main menu as soon as you see students begin to display the abilities–Check for Understanding, use the pictures, and use beginning sounds (ending sounds can be looked at later).
