The first day of summer arrived this week; the entrance to long days, a flush of flowers, and well-deserved time away from students. It's also a time when we catch up on our personal and professional reading, cleaning, yard work, camping, and the list goes on.
I was chatting with a friend about the joys of summer and the innumerous plans that seem to go along with it. As we conversed, he acquainted me with a statement he learned from a yoga master that has had a profound affect on how he handles each day. 'When thinking about happiness, it's not how much you can take, or pack in; it's how much you can let go.'
This statement made me stop and take pause. So much so that I even wrote it in my journal and have revisited it each day since. I can't seem to shake the words, and keep considering their ramification, particularly this time of year. At this necessary juncture of time for rejuvenation, it is our hope that you'll be able to accomplish your "to do" list, and that you'll be able to discern wisely what you can let go of so you can truly be refreshed come fall.
Happy Summer!
