I know that Daily 5 and Math Daily 3 are designed to support and encourage student independence, but I’d like to know The Sisters thoughts about Whole Brain Teaching. Do they agree with the research that supports its use and effectiveness?
If you look at the articles posted on the website, or listen to many of the videos, you’ll certainly see how the Sisters truly support brain research.
As far as a specific program, such as WBT, the Sisters know that we all have different programs that we have to follow at our schools, but hope that we can see how the principles of Daily 5 and CAFE can fit into most circumstances.
Hi lthreemom, are you referring to a program or to brain research?
I use Whole Brain Teaching when I teach some of my focus lessons - Cross Checking or check for understanding, etc… I don’t do it exactly like WBT but I do gestures and we practice a lot and they do teach/ okay. I also use it to teach grammar lessons.
