My name is Colleen Fierro and I have been a teacher for 29 years. I have taught kindergarten, first grade, second grade, and Multi-age 1st-3rd grade. I have loved teaching primary grades, but my heart is definitely in Kindergarten. I have taught kindergarten for 20 years and I absolutely love this age group. They can be challenging without a doubt, but the rewards you receive from these wonderful 4, 5, and 6 year olds is more than words can describe. Yes, I am their teacher, but they teach me everyday. Some days I think they TEACH me more than I teach them. They teach me patience, love, humility, compassion, humor, FUN, how to love life, inquisitivness, curiosity... really the list is endless. But one of the most important things they teach me is ACCEPTANCE. These wonderful little human beings are not judgemental and they have no preconceived notions about anything or anyone. This is definitely the most wonderful thing that I love about Kindergarten. And this is definitely why I have taught them for the past 20 years! It goes to say, and it is definitely undeniable.....I LOVE KINDERGARTEN and KINDERGARTNERS! And I feel they love me too!
