I will be teaching grade 4 and setting up for Daily 5 and Cafe for the first time at this grade level. How many books would I need to have in my classroom for a good classroom library?
Please let me know as I have only taught middle years students for Language Arts.
I have read in a few places that classroom libraries should have at least 20 books per student as a minimum. I’m sorry I don’t have a link to any research right now. I haven’t found on this site any number given, but there are some wonderful videos and articles about setting up your Classroom LIbrary. Here’s a link to get you started:
