If the students are choosing one of the daily 5, what happens when I call a group or an individual and he/she is engaged with read to someone or working on words with someone or listening to reading? I would be interrupting their partnerships and there would a computer that someone else could have used? Not sure how to manage that. Thanks so much!

A great way to solve this problem is to do this. Plan ahead which students you will be conferring with during a round. Before students make choices, tell those students that you will be conferring with them, so they should save read to someone or listen to reading for another round. If they know you will be calling on them, they are less bothered about stopping for a bit.
