I’m having a disconnect when it comes to implementing Story Town into my Daily 5 sessions. It seems to be all about working with students individual stories that they choose when working on the strategies. How do I also fit in time to work on the “story of the week” from story town that the whole class is reading together. When would I do that?
I’m not familiar with Story Town, but I assume it’s a basal program. Several teachers have responded on the Disc Board about various programs and how they can incorporate it into Daily 5/CAFE. Many have said that they take one of the mini-lesson times each week to read the story as a whole group, and then move on to Daily 5.
You can find more about blending the two at this link on the website. There are several articles and videos for you to view.
