As I begin planning and outlining lessons for the new year I’ve gotten stuck. When using Daily 5 and Cafe when should I introduce the content I have to teach in my school district? Should I wait until I have introduced all of the Daily 5 and they are running? Obviously, they would be used as mini lessons and follow my districts pacing guide, i just don’t know when I should start! Any advice would be amazing!
I would say that as soon as you’ve introduced Read to Self and maybe Work on Writing, and have completed your I Charts lessons, you could start using your mini-lesson time to begin your content area lessons.
When you feel your class is independent and has stamina to work through those times during the rounds between your mini-lessons, then you can pause your content lessons to introduce word work or read to someone/listen to reading.
