The sisters suggest giving students time to explore and “play” with math manipulatives a couple weeks before you start using them with your curriculum. I completely agree that this is great! They do look like toys and kids need explore them before they start using them as tools. I was wondering if anyone was doing this and how you structure it. Is it a choice for Math by Myself? If it is, when are kids doing the curriculum you are currently working on? Are they available during choice time? I’m planning on starting Math Daily 3 this year after having awesome success with Daily 5 and am just looking for ideas!
