It has always been my understanding the sisters recommend every child, every day choose Read to Self and Work on Writing. It was brought to my attention a fellow teacher attended a conference where the understanding was that it is no longer required to have those 2 choices every day. Can someone verify the beliefs of the sisters as of today?

It is still the belief that R to S and W on W are daily expectations. The only exception that I can imagine would be if you were in an upper elem or higher grade, where the time limits may not allow for those students to have sufficient time for both. Then, they would make a plan, such as alternating every other day, haveing a long period of reading one way with shorter work on writing, then do the opposite the next, etc.
It’s the other 3 “daily-s” that are negotiable, based on the students’ choice and needs the teacher suggests to work on.
