Where do you see and feel inspiration and joy each day? This year, more than any other, it is important to find moments when we can glean inspiration and joy, because let’s face it, this year those moments are often shadowed by current events.
So, how do we find these moments? Where do we look? We look to our everyday lives, but instead of falling into mundane routines, we focus on each moment and make meaning out of what we are experiencing. When we do this, a trip to the grocery store becomes an opportunity for five minutes of conversation with a child, a load of laundry becomes a lesson on procrastination, and a walk to the mailbox allows for a few minutes of peace in an otherwise chaotic day.
Split-second moments become our days, weeks, and years. Over time we realize these moments are our life. They are what we wait for—chances to be grateful—and when we look at them through a slightly different lens, we are able to see the learning, the peacefulness, and the wonder contained in them.
This week we are excited to announce the release of our new book, Lightbulb Moments: Unplanned Lessons for Teachers from Teachers. Our hope is that it lifts you up and inspires you to find lessons in everyday moments.
